Frequently-Asked-Questions and Site-Information
You can now order current data online using a credit card via our secure server. New data files become available each day between 4:30pm and 5:00pm.You may order the most recent currently available data (which will be the previous day's file up until about 4:30pm) or you can now order the data from the current day's close in advance, and have it delivered to you as it becomes available. Here's how: a) Click on the "Ordering" link at the head of most pages on our website. b) Choose the "Ordering Current Range of Yield Curve Scales" link. c) Click the link at the foot of the page to access the secure order form. d) Enter your name, billing details and credit card information into the form that then appears. Take care to describe the market close date for which you require the data file (generally either yesterday or today's date) and submit the order form. e) You will receive your requested data file by email. f) If you intend to order data on a regular basis you might wish to create a directory or folder on your hard drive into which you will download the data files. We recommend creating a main directory or folder called "Delphis". The data file we produce each day is always named "today.pdf". You may find it a good idea to create further folders or directories within "Delphis" to hold various files if you intend to download on more than one occasion. Alternatively, you may choose to rename the file as you download it each day. Either of these two methods will prevent the overwriting of previous data with your latest order. g) See the "How Do I View Delphis' Daily Download Files" below.
2: I want to download the Delphis Tables every day. How can I subscribe and download? a) Click on the "Ordering" link, found near the top of most pages on the website. Follow the "Subscription Paid Monthly or Yearly" links. Government departments may follow their link also. These links lead to an Account Enquiry and Sign-up form. Fill out the form according to your requirements and fax it to us. We will contact you shortly after receiving your fax to finalize account setup. Once your account is up and running follow the procedure below for data download. b) Create a directory or folder on your hard drive into which you will download the data file. We recommend creating a main directory or folder called "Delphis". The file that you download every day will be called "today.pdf". You may find it a good idea to create further folders or directories within "Delphis" to hold each day's file. Alternatively, you may choose to re-name the file as you download it each day. Either of these two methods will prevent the over-writing of yesterday's data with today's. c) If you download before 4:30pm ET you can expect to receive yesterday's data. As a rule we update our data between 4:30pm and 5:00pm ET, except on days when the markets close early. To be certain that you will receive today's file please go to our Daily Market Report page before downloading in order to confirm the date. If the report shows today's date please continue with the download process. If not, return a little later and check again. Remember to click on your Reload or Refresh browser button when visiting a site you have visited before. d) When the "Daily Market Report" page shows today's date, click the "Subscriber Log-in" button found on the left of most pages on the site. e) Enter your User Name and Password in the window that appears (these will have been agreed at the time of your account sign-up). Click the "Okay" button. This takes you to the download page in the protected subscriber area of the website. f) Three links appear on the subscriber page. The large "Download Today's Tables" button may be left-clicked to open the data file in your browser (requires Adobe Acrobat plug-in). You may right-click the button and choose "Save Link As" or "Save Target As" to save the file to your hard drive. g) If you choose to save the file to your hard drive a window will appear with options about saving the file to your computer hard drive. The filename defaults to "today.pdf". We recommend that you use the protocol suggested above and that you either save our data files into Delphis/Date folders using a new date folder for each day or that you re-name the file (changing the name in the File Name box accordingly - ensuring that the ".pdf" suffix remains intact) before clicking on the "Save" button. h) See the "How Do I View Delphis' Daily Download Files" Q/A.
3: How Do I View Delphis' Daily Download Files? In order to make downloading as simple and swift as possible the Delphis Hanover daily data files are presented in Adobe's Acrobat Portable Document Format or ".pdf" file format. This file type combines relatively small file size with high - quality color presentation. To view and print .pdf files you will require Adobe's Acrobat Reader program. This is available free of charge, by download, from the Adobe site. Follow the link below if you need to download and install Acrobat Reader. Method When you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your machine: a) Open Windows Explorer. b) Navigate to where you downloaded the "today.pdf" file. c) Double click on the "today.pdf" file. The Adobe Acrobat Reader program will start and the today.pdf file will be displayed.
4: I work for a Government department. How do I subscribe? a) Click the "Ordering" button found at the top of most pages on the site. b) On the Account Enquiry and Sign-up page that appears click on the "Government Discount" link . c) Print out the form and fill in the required boxes. You must enter full name, address and contact information together with details of why you are submitting the form (enquiry, order etc.). If you are using the form to confirm an order ensure that all billing information is clearly and completely presented. d) SIGN and DATE the form. e) FAX the completed form to 203-262-1865. f) We will contact you according to your request. 5: Secure servers and sign-up. Your web browser may show pop-up prompts concerning "secure servers", "secure pages"
or "secure transactions" when using credit card order forms on this website (for once-only data download
or if using the Historical Yield Curves or Data Points order forms, for example). This level of encryption is considered favorable when transmitting certain types of potentially sensitive information, such as credit card details. Data sent to or from a server in secure mode is considered to be more secure and less vulnerable to interception than data sent using "standard" methods. Secure data, however, takes longer to process and transmit. For this reason only potentially sensitive information is encrypted in this way. Most other types of website access use lower levels of data encryption resulting in faster performance. Browsers are often set up to identify when the user is entering or leaving a secure server or page. On the Delphis Hanover site, for your added security, the only pages maintained on secure servers are the three pages where daily, monthly or yearly subscribers are asked to submit credit card details. As you move onto these pages you may receive a warning that you are requesting a secure document or that you are entering a secure site (different browsers use different methods of explanation). Similarly, as you leave each credit card information page to move on to the next step in the subscription process you may receive a warning that you are leaving a secure site. Some browsers even use rather alarmist tactics by informing users that they are entering an "insecure" site. This merely signifies that you are leaving the secure credit card page and moving back into the general site.
6: How do I tell if today's files are ready for download? Whereas this information applies to all users of our download service, Daily Users who wish to pay by credit card for a single day of data should take special note, before signing up, as they need to be sure of which day's data they will receive in our data files. Most subscribers will visit the Delphis Hanover website every market day to download the daily data files. Daily (single day) users end up at a web address link at the end of their sign-up procedure. Monthly and Yearly subscribers can access data via the "Subscribers" button at the top of our home page, using their user name and password. Because these links are used each day, the filename for data remains the same. The file is named today.pdf. As the filename is always the same (and therefore does not carry the data file date), clients require a way of knowing if the file at the download link has been updated to contain today's data. This can be checked by visiting our complimentary Daily Market Report page. This page is updated last of all in our chain of daily updates. You may need to hit the Reload or Refresh button in your browser to make sure of the page status. If the Daily Market Report page shows yesterday's date then today's data files have not been uploaded yet and subscribers should not download. If the Daily Market Report page shows today's date then today's data files will already be in place. We upload our files between 4:30pm and 5:00pm ET daily on market days - sometimes earlier on days when there is an early market close.
7: Data File Formats and System Requirements. The daily download file is an Adobe Portable Document Format (or .pdf) file. To ensure that you can read our data files you will require Adobe Acrobat Reader. This is available free of charge from the Adobe website. A link is provided here. Adobe Acrobat files are designed to be distributed electronically and then printed. For this reason the fonts and layouts used are chosen for optimal printing rather than optimal viewing on-screen. You may improve the on-screen readability of Acrobat documents (using the Acrobat Reader program), however, by simply increasing the page magnification using the magnification adjustment buttons at the bottom of the program window.
